Custom Applications
Baartol Company, with it's depth of experience in design and fabrication of custom flagpoles, can help architects and designers with all aspects of their custom requirements. Baartol can assist in the analysis of loads imposed on the structure, design of complex structural mountings and deflection at design wind speeds. Baartol furnishes complete custom shop drawings to fully describe the design solution.
Baartol's fabrication capabilities include complex forming in aluminum, bronze, stainless steel and steel. Poles can be made with different tapers and shapes including cone taper and venetian entasis taper. The rate of taper can vary from gentle to pronounced giving a variety of effects. Pointed spires and masts can be achieved using strong tapers.
A full line of finishes is available ranging from the traditional satin and brushed to more to more exotic ones such as polyurethane enamel coatings, statuary antique, or mirror polishes on stainless steel and bronze.
Allegheny Landing
Baartol Company, working with it's pattern makers, was able to accomplish the design requirements of the special flagpole base designed by Jackson Seay Associates. The cast aluminum base was fabricated from 15 different castings with 223 different diameters and radii. The completed components were stacked to create the final base assembly which is almost 5 feet high and weighs more than the flagpole itself.
Project: Allegheny Landing Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Architect: Jackson Seay Associates Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Baartol Products: Cone tapered aluminum flagpole with 355-E black Duranodic finish. Custom design cast aluminum base with finish to match flagpole.
Hermes of Paris
Thorn Gibson Architects desired multiple outrigger poles from a single base. The typical outrigger installation has a single pole extending from the base and multiple pole designs are usually accomplished by adding additional poles and bases.
To implement the architects design, Baartol Company designed a custom base to allow mounting three poles from a single base in a very dramatic installation.
Project: Hermes of Paris Washington, D.C.
Architect: Thorn Gibson Architects Boston, Massachusetts
Baartol Products: Triple cone tapered aluminum flagpoles with Lustrapoly high gloss black finish mounted in a single custom base.
